Johno - make sure you don't undereat, too. If you eat too little, the benefits of what you are now eating may be lost when your body plays "catch up" on the nutrients, if you know what I mean. Earlier someone mentioned eating about six small meals over the course of the day. That's sound advise. It's also good to have some protein in at least 3 of them.

L. Girl is absolutely correct. As much as your body needs protein, it also needs fat, carbs and calories. Too low calories is also not good. If its not too hard you might want to look for a whole food supplement which is high in vitamins minerals and antioxidants. Of course its better if you can get all of that in what you eat.....
Might I mention stay away from about 99% of most peanut butter? Reason is in the ingredients. One of the worst things your body can consume is partially hydrogenated oils. Check the ingredients, and most likely you will find this. Here is my herbal mix for a nice weight loss natural supplement without the processing. These herbs can all be easily obtained for a fairly cheap price. Ephedra root powder Eleuthero Root powder Guarana Seed powder

J- Let's try to remember to do the stats first thing in the a.m. I totally forgot to do either.
For dinner I had a big vietnamese style salad with rice noodles. I also had a handful of pine nuts and a couple of beers earlier today.

Several companies now make peanut butter with an ingredient list of one item: Peanuts. You can also get it with two items: peanuts, salt. (I get that one, as a concession to my poor husband, who deals pretty well with my food quirks otherwise! )
Trader Joe's, and Smuckers are two large brands that come to mind. There are also other natural nut butters to try... almond butter, sunbutter (sunflower seeds) cashew butter. The key is to avoid the big sugary name brands, like Jif and Peter Pan, where the peanuts aren't even the first ingredient on the list. Peanut butter never needs sugar, basically, or that oil that Cannasieur mentioned. It can be very healthy for you if you get the good kind.

Yes, you are right. I have gotten the Smuckers, which is not bad.

I have all natural peanut butter.
Ready for some big boy stats? As of 4/2/07: weight 235 chest 47 1/2 " spare tire 50" waist 45" (funny, I wear size 40 comfortably... Must be those noasitol pills...)
I was surprised how big I really am! No wonder I have high blood pressure.

I totally understand. Weight tends to creep up on you. Sometimes as I'm gaining, I think I'm losing because the fat is settling in all the right places, then I realize that my pants don't fit anymore!! Weight: 158 Chest: 37 Waist: 33 Hips and lardass: 41 Thigh: 23 Let's see if we can't lose some lbs and inches, Johno! Right now I am eating a big bowl of grapes, bananas, pears, oranges and grapefruits. We'll make a crab pasta salad for lunch with whole grain pasta twirls, that vegan mayo stuff w/ lots of lemon juice, cucumber, onion and green olives. Don't know about dinner yet.

I finally started getting hungry! I had 15 bean soup w/ raw onions for dinner. I think I've had 3 apples today... Oh yeah, big fan of those baby carrots - they are satisfying my sweet tooth. I think I'll have eggs tomorrow.

I think I'll have eggs tomorrow. I'm glad you got hungry as I was starting to worry about you. 15 bean soup sounds great. That whole grain pasta totally stuffed hubby and me. We had sunflower seeds and banana chips for dinner and hubby has a ravenous appetite, as a rule. I'm glad you're having eggs tomorrow so I can, too. I'm thinking avocado tomato and cheese omelete (light on the cheese).

Well, I didn't have eggs yesterday, afterall, just fruit in the AM and leftover pasta salad for lunch. We splurged and did Chinese buffet last night as we were too tired to cook. I did try to stick to the salad bar and peeled shrimp. I had one small piece of pineapple chicken as it's my favorite and a little blackberry cobbler w/ ice cream (I think it was a half cheat meal).
Today, more fruit and a big salad w/ lots of veggies . I think I'm making hummus for dinner and maybe some guacamole.
My pants seem a bit looser, so I think I'm doing ok.
How's it going with you, J?

I didn't have any eggs that day, either, but I did have a little fish last night.
I peeked at the scale, and I have been losing one pound per day, so far.

I got to visit with my sister today. She graduates medical school in a couple of weeks, so I asked her opinion on our diet. She strongly reccomends that I (being a large male) eat at least two eggs EVERY day, to prevent losing muscle mass. She said it's not as important for females, but it wouldn't be a bad idea. Otherwise, we've got the all clear on this approach. Also, she recommended eating walnuts and cinnamon with cottage cheese as a good complete protein.

Far be it from me to question the advice of a soon to be doctor...eggs for everyone!!! I ate probably 4 last week, which is my normal intake. I consider them good fats, personally, so I'm not giving them up. Your sis is right that you probably need quite a few more than I do. I can tell I've trimmed down but I refuse to weigh or measure for another week. (I like big results and will wait for them as they're inspiring.) Good for you on the pound a day. You'll be back in your speedo in no time!
