Alan asked in another thread about ways to improve HG and it is up to 5 pages right now. I find it very easy to criticize (and I don't mean to imply that it is 5 pages of criticisms), so I thought a few ramblings on what I like about HG are in order. These are not in any type of order.
I like that there is very little politics here.
I like that people are friendly and helpful here.
I like that there is no "I'm the expert on such-and -such, don't you dare challenge me on it!" attitude.
I like that people actually care about you. (People have actually e-mailed me when I haven't posted in a while, to see if everything was OK with me.)
I like that people will freely share their wealth of seeds/plants/tubers/bulbs.
I like that people will freely share their wealth of knowledge with you.
I like that the few really annoying people are treated kindly. (I sure don't have the patience for it, but at least I don't blast them.)
I like that we can poke fun at each other without hurt feelings. (Mostly. I know a few people have left over such things and I miss them.)
I like that we use our common interests to bring us together and that we don't let our differences push us apart.
OK, I know there are more, but I need to get some things done today, so off I go.

YEA PUGS! Thanks for making this list. Really, it's just as important for Alan to know what is liked as is.
I agree with what Pugs has said!

Here, here.
I honestly find this the most knowledgeable, kind, generous and interesting plant forum that I have been too.
If nothing changed, I'd still visit often!

I like that I feel like I can be myself here, and that others do the same. Some other sites feel kind of superficial in comparison.
And I like you guys!!! ;D
Oh, and I agree with all the other stuff Pugs said, too.

I like that you all put up with my spelling errors and that it seems very easy to find answers on here even if I have to google what specific words mean. I am a grower and sure feel accepted even though I am not a scientist or the like background. I like that you all keep putting up with me. I like the wealth of information from eveyone on here. I like the attitude as well. I like the smart and seemingly powerful women here- it is very nice to have smart women "around" when I need a dose of umpfh. I like that there is diversity here, with growing, breeding and expierments. I like the generous nature of most ( even the smart alik's too) I like that I get to write these nice things and I dont have to suscribe to the negative etc. I like Pugs for starting this and I hope it continues on for a very long time. I like the no nonsense kind of approach to gardening and farming, that means the arguments via virtual matters as mentioned by ottawa it is here but very little and who doesnt need a little challenge evey now and again. I like this thread.

I love the amazing earth I've been gifted with. I am blessed by the amazing people that I've found here to share my love and respect. I am nourished by the information that flows here. My land flourishes increasingly because of the respect and honor that is so pervasive here. I am challenged to pass on the respect, honor, and wisdom, not as a contest but as my contribution.
Happy Holiday Season to all of you from all of us.

As a very, new member, what I like that I have seen so far, (and there is alot more to see!) is the great diversity. I have been in other forums, you had a soil forum, a flower forum, a vegetable forum, a homestead forum... This forum appears to be well rounded, and to touch on many areas... And I don't have to join 10 forums and then try to fit them all into my schedule!
