When you grow many plants you use a roll of light fluo plastic and attach it to the branch. It has to be done anyway. You can also mark with a felt tip.

Thanks Mike. Good to know that in case I find such tape. I used thread. Since I no longer grow more than 20-30 pepper varieties total of the different species, now I can use distant isolation.

I saw something on the internet the other day, of similar vein to selfing with glue, but instead they just used a small elastic band to hold the flowers together at the top whilst it self pollinated, one can buy cheaply-elastic bands in packets from lots of stationary shops or the like, from as small as half an inch accross,to several inches accross.
Over here in the UK- we have an unlimited supply of free elastic bands of the highest quality, made from a silicone mixture rather than pure rubber,
We gather them off the streets, sidewalks, and even in your own driveway, -the source is from our Postal delivery men, who have this habit of throwing away and dropping them in the millions every day all over our streets and sidewalks, they are from the bundles of letters and packages that they bundle up into areas or street names, and discard them on the way as they work, they are usually a sort of pinkish red in colour and about four inches span, someone once estimated that the postal service discard onto our streets about ten tons of elastic bands every year-what a waste, they have been asked several times not to be litter bugs and take home or back to the office all their used elastic bands -but to no avail.

just my 20 cents of experience about this metod if you have a fresh climate you have no problem but if you ,like me, grown in hot climate you have a lots of flower that fall off the plants if you try to use this sistem in july for example, so in hot climate you can want to start plants early to have flower sooner, in frescher climate.... do it! it works a lot!
