I somehow didn't have these seeds marked this fall. Does anyone know what they are? They aren't a vegetable. I am chitting a few right now to see what grows. Any ideas?

What part of that is the actual seed? If it's those 2 round things, I'd have to guess moonflower vine (Ipomoea alba). Just a guess though.

It's the part that looks like oats. I didn't grow moonflower.

May be impossible to tell with certainty. Could you list what you did grow so that maybe we could at least narrow it down by process of elimination?

Can't see if they are flatish or not, hard to say from here, the picture is kind of dark.

Sorry about the photo. Maybe I should photo one on my thumb or something. They are flat and look just like an oat only rounder and most have a little stick bit poking out. There is a lot of chaff in the photo too. They are large for seeds.
I grew so many things in my home perennial garden. I have been trying to eliminate what is saved and marked with what I might have saved. I just can't come up with one thing that would have been saved, not marked and have such large seeds. I'll look at a map of my garden and see what I am forgetting.

They are a little lily-like. As in asiatic type, but the chaff doesn't really support that theory.

So here is where I am at. I had one seed of all my saved things not marked. I am thinking of everything I might have saved and then checking off what I have marked and filed. The leftover plants that I don't have saved/marked/filed are as follows: veronicastrum japanese anenome perennial geranium russian sage That is all I can think of. A lot of my perennials were preblooming last season since the garden was newly made into perennials. So that takes many things out of the possibilities. And then there are some I wouldn't have saved like roses, lillies, iris, peonies.

I grow the four you mentioned, and I can tell you for sure that it is not any of those.

At first glance, I thought that might have come from some sort of an illegal crop ...

I was noticing yesterday that veronica has seeds oat shaped like those. The seed was on the stem and still green but definitely had the same shape. The leaves that grew look a little like veronicastum but I didn't think it bloomed last year and the leaves aren't exact. My theory is that the seeds were a cross between a few veronica family plants- I have 4.
