The Old Farmer's Almanac Gardening Question of the Day has this to say today. It's a very basic answer, but I thought a good one. What is all that other crap in the pickling spice jar anyway? www.almanac.com/gardening/question

Besides garlic, coriander and dill, I think pickling spice has bay leaf, black pepper and mustard seed, probably something else.

I think you got it rounded out RockGuy. Anybody got any bay growing? That is something I need in my garden.

Bay makes a nice container plant and can be wintered indoors in areas where it is too cold to have it outside year round.
