What is this that is sprouting between the chives and the thyme? Is it thyme? Or is it lamb's quarters? Can anyone tell for certain?

Jo, can you crop (no pun intended) the pic of the squatter and zoom in on it for closer inspection? I can't quite tell.

It looks to be too large leaved to be thyme. Did you have any lamb's quarter near there that could have gone to seed? It seems to be very thickly seeded, so it would have to be something that was allowed to mature its seed head.

I can't see it clearly. Could you send a picture of that bit? Maybe lamb's quarters?

I'll try for another photo tomorrow. Yes, it's VERY possible that it's lamb's quarters. I haven't been able to find sprout pics to ID the thyme vs. the LQ.

You can rub a leaf between finger and thumb. Lambs quarters have no smell apart from a vague 'green' smell. Thyme has a strong smell.
Looks like self seeded something or other.

It rained like crazy yesterday so no new pic. But it's definitely lamb's quarters. I was SO hopeful that the thyme was giving me some babies! I'm gonna try and air layer some and also get some rootings. It was really tedious to get this stuff going here and now that it's established, I really need some more!
