This is my plan for the early weeks of market. Besides selling seedlings solo and in 6 packs, I am working on some "gardens". I have a few pots to stick a mature pepper or tomato in with some filler flowers or herbs. I also have wooden boxes about 2 feet long and 8in? deep that are old and patinaed and ready for decorative painting. Then the question is old bushel baskets- any way to make them able to be planted in and moved? Where I rent they have old full bushel sized baskets and I plan on buying them and filling with lightweight compost and sandy soil and have mixed, companion-style plantings done in them for sale. *Any way to make them secure enough to move to market?* I know people grow potatoes in them too so I plan to sell some with potatoes started as well. Those will only be half full therefore movable.

Update for this year. No one wanted to buy big potted 'gardens'. I had one with beans, cucs, sunflowers and marigolds that I retained all season. It was so heavy to move each week. The special painted herb garden box didn't sell either, although I won at the fair with it. It is in my basement. My cats sit in it and crush the herbs. again it is really heavy and a pain to move. I am looking forward to selling bushel basket potatoes. I made two last year and sold them quickly. I never wrote down what I sold them for. Another vendor bought one and said the price was very low. I am retaining some potato chunks for this purpose when planting. I think I have 12 old bushel baskets I can have. is $5 each too low? I'll just use dirt and free compost in them. The crappy spring compost is nice because it is so light the basket won't weigh much.
