I guess it will be good for selecting cold tolerance anyway. I'm not going to bother covering anything, what happens, happens. I haven't got much veggie going on right now anyway. Put out a couple of zucs, nothing else in the way of annuals. I really am trying hard to get more into the veggie side of life, but my heart is just not in it. My ornamentals call to me, I see the foodstuffs as a nuisance. There, I said it out loud. That doesn't count for strawberries, of course.

Well the strawberries should be fine right! We had some flurries today but it's going to be nicer tomorrow. By the way , what are your favourite strawberry varieties?

My strawberry plants are loaded with fruit. I'm sorry that I don't remember what varieties they are. I have them in my flower beds, the one place that has the worst soil is where they do best. It is just a little bit of clay over rock fill, but they spread like crazy there. I have tons of peaches too, I have been thinning the fruit already a little at a time. The two trees are just loaded. The asian pear I planted last year set several fruit too, I thinned them to just 2 or 3, as the tree is just a tiny thing, still tied to a stake. The fruit are already large marble sized. I should have quince this year too, hope frost doesn't get it as this is the first year it has bloomed. It is an aromatnaya that I bought from Forest Farm. Still haven't rec'd my order from Burnt Ridge, some apples, pluot, pears, shipova & smokey serviceberries. At least it has cooled off and rained, I was worried that it would be too late to plant them. Early April we had temps in the mid 80'sF, and no rain to speak of. It was starting to get a little too dry, but the last few days have been cool and rainy.

All I have outside are some lettuce and peas. I'm sure the 1/2 in of snow we got will insulate them. lol

We had frost a couple of nights in the past week, but no insulating snow, lol I threw horticultural cloth over the seedlings overnight just to be on the safe side. I guess if you think that food is a nuisance Karen, that you'll be eating Hosta this season?
