I got this request on my blog. Has anyone any idea what they might be? Except for color, they might be a form of fava bean (like Marrone Bell peas).

Saw your seed list while searching online and wonder if you have ever heard of Japanese soup peas?
My great-aunt remembers her Wisconsin German mother growing these in Portland, OR, 1920-40s timeframe. We would both like to try growing them, if we can ever find them
. Here is her description:
"The plants (not really vines) were about 8" high, maybe l0" diameter, very small leaves along stems that all radiated from the center core, pods about l l/2" long, with just 2 peas in each pod, the peas about the size of a garbanzo bean and ivory colored. Mom only used them for pea soup.
"They were harvested in late summer and were very dry and yellowish. The stems were sharp as razor blades. She always referred to them as Japanese peas, & had no trouble raising them.
