Coke contains phosphoric acid, and I imagine it would be as good a weedkiller as vinegar. It's a bit unexpected as a pesticide, but I imagine it's the acid that does the trick.

What got me was the fact that the cola's contained 20 times the allowed limit for pesticides, and it wasn't the first incidence of it.

So, don't drink it, then? Hahahaha!!!! I wonder if one of the reasons it makes a person so fat is that it kills off the beneficial flora in their gut?

This is only slightly related to this post. Perhaps even "off-topic" But, it does mention "the coca-cola "conspiracy"" haha. Lol. Anyway, if you want to learn more about how bad sugar (specifically fructose) is for our bodies, then i recommend watching it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBnniua6-oM

This may be OT, but The Coca cola company in India has bought large sections of the Ghangi river and make the people that live by the river either pay for using the river water or sometimes walking miles to the nearest well just to get enough water to use for one or two days. This same water gets the run off from the rice and soybean fields that are sprayed with all kinds of pesticides, thats why you don't want to drink coca cola or for that matter any local water, wine, beer and maybe even homemade booze, if it has been watered down so that it could be drank. Thats why the coca cola has so much pesticides in it and they won't even try and clean up their act, they just pay off the inspectors and just keep on poisoning people with their soft drinks. High fruitose corn syrup is the least of your worries.

I was surprised to hear that and see that video. They allow such a pesticide load into cola in India? By chance I spoke to an employee at a local production plant and he told us that they start off with clean water, treat is in loads of ways to make it into generic 'water' including demineralising it. The reason given for this was because otherwise the drink could possibly taste slightly different from place to place.
There is a meat tenderising side effect of cola. Presumably due to its high acidity as Robert said. Is that what does the 'pests' in? Makes you wonder what it does to our insides and teeth.

Is it really that there are pesticides IN the soda or is it that the soda ACTS as a pesticide? Cause if they are IN the soda, it's a localized issue. If it ACTS as a pesticide, it's true of every bottle everywhere.
Either way, I'm even more grateful that I never drink the stuff!
