Hi, does anyone know anything about this.. all I have is that Irish Seedsavers sell it.. other comments I have heard it is a kale.
I would like to know when to start it, when it harvests, taste and just what is it if anyone has any experience with it please
Thank you
XX Jeannine

I don't know it Jeannine, but I'm sure a spring sowing would produce some results. Whether or not the seeds need some time in a fridge to break dormancy is another matter.

g'day raymondo,
think maybe our paths have crossed before?
this delaway cabbage, do you know if there are seeds available in aus'? or where we might get seeds? the irish seed savers indicate they can't export them outside of europe.

G'day Len. Yes, we've often posted on the same forums. I don't know why the Irish Seedsavers can't send outside Europe. The British can, and do, so if you know anyone in the UK you might get some that way. I've never seen this cabbage offered anywhere in Australia.

so far got 2 links in the g/b area and both have a lock on sending only these particular seeds outside the union. so in time might have to switch to finding someone in g/b or ireland who will buy seeds and send it on. appears to me like it has nothing to do with quaranteen/customs, don't undersand the why but?

There's no problem importing brassica seeds into Australia Len, as long as you dot all the i's and cross all the t's (that means, basically, ensuring that the sender writes the correct botanical name on the packet).

no more from Jeannine?
does she have seed or can she source seeds?
e/mailed one of the 2 co's in GB who sell the seed (not for export outside the union), the e/mail remains unanswered or ignored at this point.
got some russian red (i think) kale coming to me, chap says it is very similar, but still would like to have a go at this delaware plant. you know what gardeners are like see something new want to try it.

Hi sorry, I got all mixed up with passwords etc and just got it sent sorted out.I have already put a question on a cabbage thread too, sorry.
I do have seeds but only a few.
I lived in the Uk for nine years prior to returning to Canada and have a strong tie to the gardening crowd over there.
I heard about Delaway perrenial and expressed an interest, someone in the UK shared a few seeds with me. I did not get them planted this year as I was hoping to get more info about them but no luck. I think it is too late for this year, but again if Kale perhaps not.. I guess I could sow a couple and see what happens.
I am more than happy to share seeds if I can grow this one on, but don't have enough to share right now.. I have about 10 seeds.
In the meantime if anyone gets any other info I would appreciate it.
Thank you XX Jeannine

thank you jeannine,
would love some seed when you have it spare, i don't check here daily but feel free to use my e/mail address.
yes a debate in another forum seems to allude to it being kale, but kale or cabbage they are all common names, at the end of the day it is a brassica.
take care
