This thread is dedicated to feedback from members trading seeds, grafts, cuttings or plants of this type. Positive feedback is encouraged. In the event that a member chooses to leave negative feedback, we ask that every effort to resolve the matter privately has been exhausted prior to doing so. Furthermore, we ask that those people not involved in that trade refrain from "piling on" opinions, which will simply create a mire of negativity. Traders with a high number of negative feedbacks may be asked to stop trading through Homegrown Goodness. This is a decision that will be made on a case-by-case basis, at the discretion of the moderators. Traders with a high number of good feedbacks are karmically blessed, and will be nominated for seedy sainthood.

Castanea, recall the mulberry seeds you sent me? Well, I've got 2 nice little trees going! There should have been more but one day they were doing fine and the next morning they were eaten off at soil level. I was madder than a hornet! The little soil pots stand in memorium... I do have a question though... these were planted in sterile soil. Now, there are two plants in two pots. Both pots have one plant that look like a tree to be. Both pots also have a plant that looks like a mulberry leafed weed... Any thoughts? I MUST get photos!
Dan, Val sent me a TON of seed! Cherries, plums, peaches, and apricots. The cherries and plums didn't do a darn thing but every single one of the Tommycots are now nice little trees and 3 of them were planted in their new permanent home 2 days ago. The other 2 will go in a different area on the other side of our property. I also got 1 Hargrand apricot to grow. Of the peaches, I have 2 Harmony peaches and 1 Harbrite peach. I'm planning to spray them with copper next spring to protect them against fireblight and plum curculio unless anyone offers wiser counsel. All 9 of these trees are identified as Val's and I'm hoping to one day get some sort of permanent marker to id them.
When we moved to this property there were 4 trees and a tangle of impenetrable jungle lining the creek. My husband has turned the jungle into a park and he and the boys have planted more than a hundred trees over the years. Probably closer to 200, but I'm just guessing. A lot have died. Some are stunted. But most of those that have lived more than a year are really taking off. We have some evergreens that we planted the first year we were here that are more than 10' tall. It's very gratifying to see.
I am very grateful to everyone who has helped us not only with seed and cuttings, but with advice and encouragement. Thank you.
