I have a 'Chicago Hardy' in a large pot in my greenhouse. I tasted fruit from LSU Golden last year at Clifford Englands, and didn't care for it. This year, I have ripe fruit on my plant. Can't say I like it either. I don't heat my greenhouse and this plant has done well for 3 years, I planted one outside this year to trial its winter hardiness. So far the plant has done well, even though I haven't watered it after planting it. We have had horrible heat, and it hasn't even wilted. Just wish I like the fruit. Maybe if I dried some....

FWIW, a lot of people seem to like the fruit of "Violetta", which is reputedly coldhardy to about -20C/-4F.
It bears 2 crops, but I'd be happier if it only tried to bear a single summer crop. A UK site claims both crops ripen there, due to the late crop overwintering.

Well, I don't like them, but I picked a couple, and my 1 year old grandson Charlie does. That kid will try anything, which is good. Loves blackberries too. But he will eat bread/rolls over anything else.

Dried figs have a different flavor and texture than fresh. So try drying some...
Also, I'd be interested in a cutting or so from your Chicago Hardy...
Atash, any ideas on a source for Violetta?
