Well folks I was in the hospital for a couple days. According to what I was told it was not a heart attack. However it was a minor case of congestive heart failure. But something good comes of this little trip.Found out they have a DHS social worker there. She got me signed up for State disability and a program for adults which just started up as of today which will help with my meds and doctors visits.Lots of folks this time around are fighting to help me over here now. Also this may also give SSA the info they need to approve my disability. In the mean time I will now have a way to get to the free clinic in Hillsdale so I can get to see a doctor and get my meds on a regular basis. Someone at the hospital also made sure I did not go home without meds I needed and had my ride take me to Rite Aid. So minus this little scare things are getting better..

I think it would be good to post it here so other members can see it too. I know we have other folks here that have some of the same or similar issues that might find this of help. I am not to fussy and like to try new things more then my sis. The hospital fixed me a nice dinner which was leaning more to an Asian theme and had snow peas with the chicken over rice and you could taste the ginger. Was a very pleasant meal. The only thing I could not stand was their scrambled eggs.Darn things tasted like saw dust. yuck.

Kevin That's what they make ketchup for = hiding sawdust flavors. Be well, and get ready to garden again.

Well folks DHS managed to arrange a ride for me to the free clinic. They open at 5pm on Tuesday's.They where pretty busy too and only had two doctors. The one I got had been up since 6am I did not get out of there till almost 10pm I sometimes wonder how the Doctors and nurses manage to work the hours that they do. My doctor managed to get all my meds for me including my Plavix thank God!! I get to go back to the clinic next month for a check-up.Oh yeah he says I am doing ok right now. Kevin

Kevin That's what they make ketchup for = hiding sawdust flavors. Be well, and get ready to garden again. I will be ready Dan. I really had a good time with the garden this year. The best part is I had some shockingly big tomatoes this year ,a 100 pound punkin, and a nice amount of cukes and winter squash to round things out. Not as much as I normally would plant at least as far as other crops go but still a good season. Kevin

Sorry to hear this, Kevin......take care and get well. Doing pretty good so far Penny. The meds are working out fine As I know them all from when I was taking care of my Dad.I just gotta watch the sodium and other things. One thought I had if I get my disability is to buy meat locally from one of our meat shops. I don't trust a lot of the stuff that gets shipped in to the stores and would rather support farmers right here. There are also some good Amish folk around here I would be happy to buy from as well. We already by local eggs which are far superior to store bought. My whole goal is to grow as much of our produce as I can and support the folks that raise what we can't here in Hillsdale County. This and starting to make my own seasonings next year will lead to a much healthier way of life and supporting the community at the same time. Kevin

Sorry to hear about your health, but at least it wasn't a heart attack like you said. I am headed on the same track and am having to watch my salt and sugar intake as my blood work showed that my blood sugar was not stable. I have managed to cut out all the sugar and now use just Steva, and have cut down on my salt quite a bit, but I still like some salt on my food. Hard to break old habits. I'm glad that you are able to get help with your meds and disability set up. It can be a long hard road at time, especially if you don't know where to start. George W.

Yep George it is a hard thing to start on. I was supposed to have a SSA Doctors exam yesterday and the cab driver was going on the info I had which was wrong and took me to the wrong Doctor. He had the correct info but just did not go by what his boss gave him.And he was a new driver. Now the SSA is trying to hash out if they should schedule another appointment. And I am setting here thinking it was not my fault and they have to debate the issue?
If they do deny me over this I am done and will turn the appeals process over to an attorney.Done playing games with these guys.
