I am already deep into picking out my seeds for next season. I garden 1/2 acre and have a small CSA and one market. I have had great luck with broccoli in the last 2 seasons. I am the only one selling it at market and I harvest from late June through til snow. I have previously always bought the Pinetree seeds broccoli mix, which is nice, but I need more seed this year and some of the varieties are disappointing. I am hoping to find 1 variety with great side shoot production that can produce all season and stays tight. I am looking for opinions on Calabrese, De Ciccio, Green Goliath, Waltham or a specific hybrid (like from Johnny's). Also is romanesco worth growing? Which one of the purple cauliflowers in Baker's is better? I am also picking out cabbage. Again I have always used Pinetree's cabbage mix but might not order from them this year. I loved their Point One cabbage as it is the fastest maturing and old people love the pointy cabbage. Any recommendations on OP cabbage -green, purple and savoy? Also has anyone ever grown Johnny's Happy Rich broccolini?
I have sandy loam soil in zone 4. I am lucky the brassicas (except sprouts) have grown so well there. I am not against hybrids but they cost more and good growth along with profitability are my priorities in my situation. I can't afford to mess around and waste space. I am not planning to save brassica seeds (they are not winter hardy here in general).

I like Romanesco a lot. It's got a good, nutty flavour. More a cauliflower than a broccoli in my opinion. I found Happy Rich a little on the bitter side but I think it's a turnip green so I guess that's to be expected. Can't help with the others I'm afraid.

I keep touting the merits of Red Rock Mammoth as a cabbage for flavour, hardiness and pest/disease resistance at least in my experience.
