Here is a recipe for blackberry vinegar. I know its been used in my family for generations ,and I expect countless other family's .Its a remedy for colds and chills,. Soak 1lb of berries in 1pint of malt vinegar for 3 days, squeeze as much liquid as you can through a cheesecloth. For every pint of liquid add 1lb of sugar and simmer until it's dissolved. Allow to cool, bottle and keep forever! If possible use glass containers, even a mason jar would do. Dilute about an inch in a mug with hot water and drink it at night as hot as you can stand. I myself now am rather partial to a hot toddy at bed time but I grew up taking this when I had a cold.

Thanks for sharing your family blackberry vinegar recipe and advice.
I make blackberry vinegar(himalayan blackberries are ubiquitious here) and use it generously in sauces and vinegrettes.
What have never done, is drink it as a cold/chill remedy.
Will try this remedy next time.

Sounds really good. We have lots of blackberries here. I love that malt vinegar. Great with chips.
