Hello! Bonjour!
We need some advice from the Canadian members. What do US seed companies have to do to legally mail seeds to Canada? If you can point us to the right direction (such as a government website) we'd appreciate it.
If there are any provincial restrictions you are aware of, let us know. Thanks.
We already know we can't ship wheat or for that matter potato tubers which are our two biggest products. Sorry. But we'll try to serve Canadian customers with whatever we are allowed to mail up there.
Much obliged for orienting information. I realize that this is not legal advice.

As far as seeds go, I don't think there are any restrictions aside from noxious weeds and otherwise illegal plants. Any live plant matter other than seeds, and it requires a phytosanitary certificate.

Why can't you ship wheat? I never would have thought...

I include Canadian gardeners in my seed offers and write "GARDEN SEEDS" on the packet. In the 10 years or so of doing that, there was only one time when one was opened by Canadian Customs.

I personally- have never had any bother or problem whatsoever is sending or receiving seeds to and from Canada, covering several years.
One thing I would like to know though- is there any difference in Canadian law and rules regarding that subject in the two separate areas of Canada -between the French occupied parts and the English occupied part, or is the same for all-regardless ??

Thanks for the advice, folks. We'll ship small packs of seeds to Canada minus wheat which could get us into trouble. That will be mutually beneficial to ourselves and to our customers.

It wouldn't make a difference federally and you can easily ship between provinces for anything I've tried. Don't know if there is any difference between the provinces.
