So the TLUD style stoves (from the Terra Praeta thread) make biochar, and charcoal is a good filter- what about using the charcoal first in a home water filtration system, then recycling into the soil?
Just doing some basic reading, and it seems a column of sand (with some kind of lid to disperse the water stream being poured in) that percolates into a charcoal section, then into a gravel section (to keep sand and charcoal out of the out-spout) then out into your container....
I have a water pasteurization indicator for our solar oven, just thinking of one more step to cleaner water. Nothing like a good old case of the runs to put you down for a few days.
