Here on the Canadian West Coast, Seedy Saturdays start usually by February and go strong, every weekend in multiple communities big and small until around April.
I started one in my community six years ago and now we have a great organizing committee that meets once a month from Sept. to March to plan a big community seed swap and garden fair. Dozens of non-profit community groups participate, plus a few seed vendors and people with worms, bees, compost etc. Plus there's eight gardening workshops and a non-stop corner of activities for children all day. A Seedy Cafe features a local food menu so people can come at 10 am and stay until the fair finishes at 3 p.m.
Yeah! Let's hear it for Seedy Saturday!!!! (Seedy Sundays in some places)

I can't wait for Seedy Saturday. The one is Saskatoon is coming on March 12.
The Eco Farm Day sounds interesting, I would have loved to see Dr. Shiv Chopra talk. I am currently reading Corrupt to the Core. Wow.

We had our Seedy Saturday yesterday. I didn't think we went through very many seed packages at these events, but I had the seeds going for donations to the church, and we gathered more than $100

Ciao Dan-
Good to see you! That's an excellent idea, seeds for church fundraising. I'm just about at the point of being able to get a table at one of the events. Toronto's still getting the kinks out of the best venue for Seedy Saturdays. They've become very popular and this is such a huge city that vendors and participants alike can feel really cramped. They decided to have 3 in the "general" area of Toronto-ish this year - 1 at U of T, 1 in Mississuaga, and 1 coming up next weekend in North York where I am. The U of T event had a smaller than expected showing, so I'm hoping that North York will be well attended, but not cramped. I'm asking for a lot, I know, lol!
