Well, my husband has been offered a promotion (a HUGE one) and we're really proud of his accomplishments. It'll mean a move to the Sacramento area, which is a little stressful , due to the distance, not the area, of course. If this all falls into place, he'll probably be going in the next few weeks. The kids and I will follow sometime afterwards, once we get to the end of the school year, and have the house ready to sell. (We were in the middle of that remodel, doesn't it figure?) So, I want all the info I can get regarding good school systems, nice areas, etc. All input is welcome!

Congratulations to A!!!! I know it's well deserved. But I miss you already...Ask Fawnmeadow, we chatted online for 4 years before we actually met in person. CT was only a 6 hr drive away, and seemed (as the internet goes) just down the road...Where you are now is not much further away than she was in CT.... But Sacramento is just soooooo far away...
But on a happier note? Just think how wonderful a gardening season you will have...and no snow, very little freezing rain, a swimming pool.....friends who want to come visit every winter, lol

Nah, not Sacramento, it'll still be here when all the rest of the state flops off of the continent. What kind of digs are you looking for, how much land etc...Sacramento is a rather varied area with a lot of different areas to choose from. One thing to remember, the area and nieghborhoods are quite diverse, with a lot of different socio-economic groups gathered together, so evaluation can be difficult. BTW, there are a few Sacto area growers in the NORCATT group that started at Tomatoville you might ask them.

Y'all got it backwards anyway. As Father Guido Salduchi used to say, when the big one comes, everything east of Denver will fall into the ocean. That's the bad news. The good news? The surfin's gonna be fantastic.
