I am adding new signs to my fields this week. I'm not expecting the mosquito abatement or street crews to respect them, but I figure that they're a nice statement about my beliefs as a farmer, and about the quality of vegetables that I am raising.

Good for you! I call that courage in action. I'm interested to hear how folks respond. I don't think we have an abatement program.

I dunno... Personally, I would guess that maybe, JUST maybe, 5 out of every 100 persons viewing that sign would even stop a moment to think about what they read. Out of the 5, perhaps 1 would respect the wishes of the poster.
My reasoning for these numbers is due to the SHTF ideal. If there were lots of persons that would heed and respect such a declaration, we, as a planet, would not be in a state of such upheaval. Additionally, one wouldn't really need the signage because people in general would be more respectful.

nice sign joseph!
we have a county truck that sprays the weeds on the side of the road every other year. (this spray doesn't even bother the weeds!) if we don't want our area sprayed, we have to put up two signs, beginning and ending of our property. they have to have a white background with a black S in the center with a circle around it and a slash through the circle.

Perhaps they would notice the signs if they showed a cat shaking its up-raised tail and the red circle-slash. It's better to be pissed off than to be pissed on!
