Synthesis! Meld this idea with the four-pallet compost bin. Voila! The Vertical Salad Planter Composter. Might need one or two pallets left open for air. Maybe a helper when shifting the bin, since you can't just flip it inside-out. If your pile heats up well, you've got a hotbed for an early start, and if you put a kiddie pool on top, you've got a hottub!

Great idea! I use pallets to elevate my Earth-boxes and other containers off the ground but never thought of putting landscape fabric on them. Your planter idea gives me an idea for how to make my pallets look "pretty" by covering them with landscape fabric. The fabric is permeable so water will not stand on top. Thanks!!!

Great idea, but not so useful in my arid growing environment. Although if I built a windbreak, ran drip tube along the top, and planted on the sheltered side...
Sounds like my kind of hare-brained project.
