Yesterday my daughter Cheryl (the mother of my two grandchildren was involved in a serious car accident. She hit a dump truck head on in a construction zone. It was a miracle she wasn't killed.
The doctors have said that almost every bone in her foot has been broken. When the swelling has gone down she will start a series of major reconstructive surgeries. There is a danger of infection. She will be disabled for at least six months and possibly have lifelong problems.
She was trained as dancer as a child and although she did not pursue it as an adult she was one of the most graceful people I have ever known.
I hope that we can send some positive energy out there, so please everybody please ask whichever deity and whatever faith you follow to help her to heal and get well.
Thank you
LoreD

LoreD - She'll be much in our prayers this evening. It is so hard to be thankful in the face of this kind of thing, but thank God she's still with you and her kids, right? Take care.

Lore, It truly was a miracle that your daughter's only injury is her broken foot.
May her recovery be swift and complete.
My thoughts are with her and her family.

Lore, that is terrible. But at least it was her foot that took all the damage and not her head. She was very lucky. I wish her a speedy recovery and will keep her in my thoughts. What is her first name?

Thanks everybody, I told her that everybody was thinking about her and she that it made her feel a lot better.
The two huge blisters on her foot have burst and left open sores on her foot and the doctors are worried about the possibility of infection at this time. Sorry, everybody, I know that is kind of gross to talk about.
She is still on a lot of pain medication and its not helping that she isn't allowed to smoke.
She'll be in the hospital for another two weeks and then she'll go into a cast and after she has healed some, they will go in and re-break the bones and put in pins to repair the damage. We are also hoping that she won't walk with a limp. Altogether, barring complications such as infection, she might be up and walking in about six months.
Flowerpower,
Her first name is Cheryl and she is in Wausau Hospital, Wausau, WI.
Thanks everybody,
LoreD

Thanks for the update, Lore. If it makes you feel better, a friend of mine had a similar situation about 15 years ago. She still has a plate and pins in her foot. She does not limp unless she does something silly like a kickboxing class or other very strenuous foot intensive activities.
You may want to see if the doc will prescribe the nicotine inhaler for Cheryl. It helped me quit cigs fairly painlessly over a year ago so maybe it'll take the edge off. Goodness knows your daughter doesn't need the extra aggravation of nicotine withdrawls when she's going through all of this.
I'll keep sending positive energy and healing vibes your way.
