My name is Patrick. I've lived near Orleans most of my life. I've attended college a couple of times and lived in Bloomington and Lafayette for a couple of years. I've been growing Ginseng for a few years. I've researched mushrooms for several years, just now starting to get serious about growing. This was the first year we've put a garden out. Got a late start, so things were behind. My corn is only about 3 feet tall, but it is starting to tassel, not sure how that is going to work out. We've had lots of tomatoes, zukes and cucumbers. Peas and beans didn't fair very well. Had a big rain the day after we planted, and they washed away! I hope to learn lots on here. Alan- I was the quiet guy in the small group that you were talking too after the Producers meeting.

Patrick, Welcome to HomeGrown. I was reading your posts this morning before work. It's good to see a newbie taking an active part. I find it interesting that you would start gardening with the more difficult things like Ginseng and Mushrooms. I've been gardening for over 30 years and I've never had the nerve to try either one of those, lol. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome Patrick to Homegrown. As you can see we are a friendly website and try to include all in our forum. As for your corn only being about 3 feet tall and tasseling already that will not affect your yield much as long as you get some rain during this time as tasseling time is where the ears are developed and a good rain always helps.

Down, I wrote Alan about that? He says it's some default setting in the website. Thought he could fix it easily..Apparently not, cuz I'm still listed as someone/something way more important than I'll ever be. Worried that it might scare folks with a religious interest off...

Fixed it; it was easily done, i've just been being lazy!
Glad to see you here Patrick, can't wait to meet you face to face, karen has had nice things to say about you. I beleive we may be going to have another meeting soon and I haven't forgotten about you "chat" suggestion and will get around to it as soon as I have time to explore some options.

K Alan. With school starting in a couple of weeks, I've not had much time to do any gardening. Trying to get everything around the house done since I'll be pretty much absent from my house for the next 9 months. I didn't water so most of my stuff is dying due to this hot weather. Tomatoes were done last week. I checked my mushroom spawn and it is starting to grow, but it is still in the package. I don't want it to grow yet! I'm thinking of putting it in the refrig to try to coax it to go dormant till after the leaves fall and I can cut the trees for my logs.

Blue maybe if Alan had programed it to say GODDESS that would have shown your real personality and status of honor.
