This dark almost black flowered broad bean has appeared amongst a row of crimson-flowered broad beans. I've planted many different varieties over the years so there will be a lot of crossing going on. Nevertheless, I've kept the crimson-flowered variety for 10-15 years just by selecting the best plants. Attachments:

Can I isolate it in some way in order to decrease the chances of it crossing with other varieties? If so, how?

I have a line of Broads just like that one that have segregated from the Purple Flowered plants, I've been calling them "Goth". A few revert to purple but they are pretty stable.

I would bag the flower tops picking any of the young pods that have already made, I really like favas, but they just won't grow for me mainly because of the weather which goes from cool and wet to very hot and dry, which is what we are going through now. The Black flowers are quite nice to look at. George W.
