Grungy says "AWWWW!!! How many packs of seed do you want for him?" I say "I'll watch from here --- I've done the 3AM feeding thing." And you both did a great job!! Dan & Val

Do you have any family nearby who can help out? It makes a huge difference if someone can help out now and then. Even if it is just for a couple of hours so parents can take a nap. My husband never lost any sleep, as I was the only one who could feed our kids, if you know what I mean. It really does seem overwhelming at first to bring home that tiny bundle. I remember the first bath I gave our first. I was scared I would break her, and I had been taking care of newborns since I was a kid! Hang in there, he will eventually sleep through the night, and so will you. Days and nights kind of run together, and you lose track of what day of the month it is for a while. But that baby smell sure makes up for the lost sleep. Well, the right after the bath -baby smell, anyway.

We gave him a bath yesterday and he did well. We've had some challenges to breastfeeding but we're figuring it out. I've supplemented formula a few times and he's sleeping longer. I love him more than life. He's truly a blessing. Jenn is doing better too. Sore, but happy.

It can take a little while to get the hang of breastfeeding, but it is so good for the baby, and free. No bottles to wash, and you never have to worry about taking bottles when you go out. Very convenient. Of course, everyone around here acted like I was insane for doing it the natural way.

last night was not fun. Almost every other hour up to feed...I know it will get better.....someday. I'll tell you something, though... we all get through it. In a few years, you'll be nostalgic for the little baby who slept on your chest after that 2:AM feeding. Then you'll be nostalgic for the little guy who believes everything you say! Each stage is a blessing, even though we think we may never get through it at the time! (At our house, we are deep in the eye-rolling foot stomping age with the older one, and a raging Star Wars fetish with the 10 year old). I'm sure someday these things too, will make me look back fondly.
Enjoy it... every fussy, sleep deprived, exhausting minute of it. Sam Harrison is a beauty!

ditto, what lav and robin said My girls are 5 and almost 7, and it's amazing!!! I miss the babies they were, but I love the little people they are! It's seems never ending when they are babies, but it goes by so fast in real time. And before you know it, he'll be a teenager! Enjoy it while you can. Revel in the late nights that are because of feedings, and not because you don't know where the darn kid is (out partying!).
