A friend had comfrey that set seed. It became a weedy nightmare, popping up all over. He tried for a few years to grub it out but always managed to leave a bit and presto, it would be back. He finally rid himself of it with a combination of black plastic and glyphosate! When I went looking for comfrey, I searched for guaranteed sterile cultivars. You can propagate it easily enough from root cuttings. I found one called Bocking 14. It has been in the same spot for a few years now and no other comfrey has popped up anywhere in the vicinity. I'm prepared to spread this one around.

So it keeps a long time without getting all wrinkly; is that why they use it in skin creams? These apples can heal themselves quickly and thoroughly I think is why.

Does anyone know of a source for seeds or scionwood of this apple? It has become popularized recently because it contains a compound used in some skin care creams. I could not care less about that. What inetrests me is that this apple stores for a very long time. Discovered in the 18th century-these apples were not widely cultivated caws of there sower taste. I would like to get hands on some out of curiosity and that they are rear. There are but twenty Uttwiler Spätlauber apple in existences.

You'll most likey have to check with some of the places that sell heritage apple trees, maybe they might have it, that is if its a heirloom variety. I checked two of my catalogs that sell apple trees and didn't find it, so it might be one that was developed just recently. There are other very good apple varieties that might just be better apples than one that has a bunch of hype to the name, there are several varieties that are picked in October and will keep till spring if stored right. George W. There are but twenty Uttwiler Spätlauber apple trees in existences. Are you talking of these apples i'm just curios?
