To follow on from the world's ugliest apple post... My prettiest apples are definitely these known as 'old tree' as that is the name that the previous owner gave when I asked 'what kind of apple is that?' BTW: I don't remember why my eldest has such a cranky face on. I think her sister might have gotten ahold of the biggest apple. Second prettiest has to be these russets: These crisp reds are nice too though they have more blemishes than the russets: My September trees are tasty to eat but also for the bugs. I'm calling them 'yellow.'

Not everything Next year, I promise to take some photos of the less pretty apple. When photographing apples, I didn't think to include the apple maggots etc...

Everybody's a critic! Have you considered that those apple maggots may have proud mothers? Have you realized that those concerned parents found your apples suitable to give their offspring a good start in life?
As for the "less pretty" apple, might it not have been the "apple of a doting father's eye"? Judge not a book by its cover, nor an apple by its wrinkly, blotchey, scabby skin. Some grafting, or other surgery, might be all it needs, a "nose" job of sorts.

Indeed, the 'yellow' apple does appear to be an ideal apple maggot nursery...

There you go; now you've got the idea! Protein-fortified chicken or swine chow.
