I kept hearing about this place and have been reading here a while. I finally joined.
I play music, breed tomatoes, and try to raise 3 boys. Not always in that order.
I see lots of friends here. Darth, Blane, Grunt, and I'm sure there are others.
I am sort of obsessed with tomatoes and watermelons.
I hope to get some input on other vegetables that I don't know enough about. I can see a winter squash neurosis in my near future.

3 boys? 3 boys? You are a brave person.
Now, tell us all about those H2O melons. Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks everyone. The watermelons have been somewhat of an obsession since I was a kid. I got reacquainted with them in the early 90's when I attended the Hope Watermelon Festival. I have grown more varieties than I will actually admit to. I'm still trying to find the holy grail. I have at least narrowed my favorites down to just a few.
The tomatoes, well that is a different story. I am working on several projects. Pollen clumping is an issue that I am very involved in. I would say heat tolerance is my main project, but I also have some segregating lines in hearts, stripes, high anthocyanin, and several others. Increasing shelf life in some of the black/purple heirlooms is another area that I am giving a lot of attention. I probably have more projects than I do life.
I am itching to try some Winter Squash hybridization, but don't think I have the room right now with all the grow outs I have to do in 2012.
