Man, it seems like I'm in a mood to piss and moan this week, doesn't it? So, I'm at the health club this AM, and I forgot my ipod, so I have to listen to their music, and I'll be damned if I didn't find out I was OLD this morning! There's a satellite radio station that they played this morning which refers itself to Classic Rock, but it was playing stuff from MY youth, not from the Woodstock era. When the heck did the Hooters, for God's sake, become classic rock? Yipes!!! And what does that make Zeppelin? Geriatric Rock? The Stray Cats, Talking Heads, the Clash... all that post punk early 80's stuff is now classic. Plus, to my horror, it's lumped together with Billy Joel from the Glass Houses album, and freakin' Wham. I will never forget my ipod again, I'll tell you that much! This is as bad as the time I was in the grocery and realized I was humming along with the muzak, and then I realized I knew the tune because it was a CURE song. I'm going to go down a geritol/prune juice cocktail now, and take a nap in front of the View.

Thanks, LG. Now I feel REALLY old. I was listening to Paul Mc Cartney and Wings yesterday. Geez, he's what 65 now? OMG he's older than my parents! LOL

[Older than your parents?! You might be younger than I am? My dad is seventy and just preparing for his first shoulder replacement so he can keep on workin'.]
When I was a kid, the one radio station we had was playing in everyone's house every morning - local announcements and big band music...
This morning, they were playing Ozzy Osbourne between announcements...

Don't get me wrong - I like older music. Blue and I were just contemplating Canadian folk music recently, which brought me to the statement that I needed to get my Gordon Lightfoot and James Taylor (not Canadian, of course) ready, because to me they're autumn music.
BUT - I hate when stations are schizophrenic, with no flow in their musical choices, and while there's nothing wrong per se with Billy Joel, he pretty much doesn't sit on a mix CD in most houses right before the Clash. My music shelves do in fact run the gamut from Pennywise (skate punk, sorta) to Brian Setzer (both incarnations - Stray Cats and Big Band) to Ice Cube to Rigoletto. I've got Gregorian Chant sitting next to Godsmack on the shelf, but I sure wouldn't put them in the CD changer together!
And I just don't want anything I listened to in High School or College (that was new at that point) to be called classic yet.... I just can't be that OLD!

At least i could understand the words of those old songs unlike some of today's songs that sound more like when you fill the feeders for a bunch of hogs.

Johno, my parents were teenagers in the 60's. And I was one of those "Prom Night" babies. That makes me 25. lol
