Has anyone had contact with House Odyssey (Michelle)? Haven't seen her around... just hoping all is okay.

I haven't heard from her for about 3 weeks I believe? I should check emails and see if I still have my last one from her just to get a timeframe?

Thanks for thinking of me, Lav. I'm fine, just busy with even more and seemingly neverending neighborhood issues and all of the other things that keep life interesting. I'm convinced that if I stop being distracted, the insanity will take over. So I try to stay really busy for everyone's sake. Are you in California now???

Michelle - glad things are cool, albeit busy. We have not moved yet, because the housing market is crap. It's always slower here in rural VA, but at this point the problem is that people look at the house, love the house, and want to make a contingency offer on the house. Basically, that means, if I accept, that my house is sort of aff the market for the length of time in the contract, while they try to sell theirs. Can't do it. I need to just sell to someone who's ready to buy. Because it's a relo, the company basically buys our house from us, and then resells it to the new owner. This is supposed to free our $ up faster, to go buy a CA house. But that wouldn't work with contingency offers, because the deal might fall through at the 11th hour, and the relo company would be left holding the house. Oh well. It's now been 7 months since Andre moved out to Sacramento. We're dealing....

That really sucks. If the relo company is essentially buying the house, why are you on the hook? They need to step up and reunite your family unit. ( I totally want to quote raising arizona here) I get the contingency thing but it works a lot of the time. I guess that I don't fully understand the situation. At least you and Andre have the absence makes the heart grow fonder aspect. I really miss that from going on the road, if you know what I mean It's not a nice situation for your kids, though, I'm sure. If your house doesn't sell soon, I'd say get tough with the employers or whomever and demand that something be done. Perhaps you've already tried that, though. At any rate, good luck and enjoy the reunions!!

The house was shown today, and I pulled out all the stops... soft Christmas music playing in the background, I baked orange-cranberry scones and left warm ones on a pretty plate, with some glasses and bottled juices. While our tree isn't up yet, I made sure the other decorations looked pretty, like we were about to have a party. I got a call from the realtor tonight that they LOVED the house, and are going to speak to their mortgage person tomorrow. I guess we're listed a little higher than their range. I am pretty sure we can get the company (Andre's, not the relo) to kick us 10 or 15 grand if we lower the asking price, so that we're whole on our needs. Keep your fingers crossed! My realtor said the house looked SO great, she'd have bought it herself if she didn't already have a house. Oh, and they ate some scones... ;D

I hope that the baked goods made them pull the trigger!
