Kale... chips? Those are two words I would not have expected paired.

Kale chips are a minor rage lately, not hard to make and tastier than buffalo chips, I'm told.

There's a lot of recipes out there for them.
I give mine a quick steam, toss them in the food processor and turn them into cat food. (Pate?) Then I toss in a couple shots of Soy Vay! A terriyaki sauce. Then I put the whole mess in the dehydrator. I jar them up the next day and send them out to the CSA to sprinkle on their salads. That is, if I can get them past Leo.
I make another with Braggs Vinegar and Sea Salt.
The only other way I can eat Kale is the Ferdzy way....with lots of sausage and taties to wash them down.
No, I don't work for Soy Vay or Braggs, but if they want to send me a case....I'll share.

It's 11PM and we just finished getting the new top put on the hoop house and the tie down straps attached. We started earlier this afternoon but the wind came up and we had to wait until dark for it to calm down. Tomato and pepper plants are ready when the ground dries enough to plant which will probably be tomorrow.

Felt inspired today so built a compost pile, about 1.2m (4ft) in each direction. Now I just have to remain motivated long enough to turn it a couple of times!

Yesterday I finished constructing the cage-rack for my seedlings; it's to verticalize my seedling flats, so they don't take up the whole backyard, and to keep the squirrels at bay, until they're grown enough to go to the farm {the seedlings, not the squirrels; I've already enough pest species on the farm).

I would enjoy seeing a photo of that steev .
I think my recent endeavour might be a bit of a traditional homesteader activity, trying to network and meet some nice men. Lets see my mother attempted to to set me up with a convicted smuggler "because it would be good for you to have some help out on the farm " . I refused to have anything to do with that. Then I activated and posted an ad on FarmersOnly online dating and hmm, and that so far confirms that I am really am not all that appealing . So back outside to wallow in the garden planting my fig cuttings with hopes some of them root .

Synergy, you would not enjoy a photo of that cage-rack; it's just to re-up my membership in the UBSS (Ugly, But Serviceable, Society).

Spent 3 minutes with my youngest, twitchiest child being still and silent next to the purposed weed patch. Mostly mustards. Heard the humm of untold numbers of bees, our bees. Then noticed noises from a clump of fallen corn roots nearby. Turned head and observed movement... turned out to be a hatch of lizards... I've always wanted to find a lizards nest. This was pretty darn close and there were more than a dozen of the little guys scampering in all directions.
Planted the spring wheat, more green peas, a few tomato and pepper starts I got at the feed and grain. A new raised bed is beckoning and I have all kinds of stuff to go in there. Wish I could remember what I planted where I see things sprouting... I love my life!!!!

Oh my gosh I would love to see them too , I get excited when I have an encounter like that as well : ) I am sowing swiss chard between the concord grape cuttings I am trying to root . I sort of had the thought that by the time I ate all that chard that the grapes would be ready to transplant (maybe next spring? ) I also added calendula and purple clover seed to the pasture . Most of the time I am flying by the seat of my pants with no clue if things will really work .

Carefully hand-weeded 60' of beets, Tyfon, turnips, and kohlrabi. Sheesh! I have to skip a week-end and the weeds try to stage a coup.
