This morning on my way to work I stopped at a mom and pops gas station for diesel. There was a huge sign on the diesel pump written in large red letter that said " All fuel must be pre-paid") So I walked across the parking lot into the store and pre-paid $30.00 dollars for my fuel. Back across the parking lot to the truck I was standing in 17 deg weather pumping my fuel and the pump stops at $15.00 dollars worth and shuts off. I thought crap, another trip across the parking lot to the store, I walked in and said ma'am the pump stopped at $15.00 dollars worth and I pre-paid for $30.00. She said yea that pump is kinda old and the price per gallon only goes up to $2.99 on that pump; so the price of diesel is more than the pump can be set to charge for so we set the price of diesel at exactly 1/2 price $1.68 a gallon and gave you $15.00 dollars worth. I walked back to the tuck and checked the pump and sure nuff, it was set for $1.68 a gallon, if I had noticed the price per gallon and the pump had been on I would have filled her up with fuel and had sticker shock in the store

Here's another "can you believe it" gas story... my husband is in CA, and when he goes to gas his car up, he says there are guys who will ask him to put gas in their vehicles too. They'll approach while he's pumping, and try to panhandle fuel! How crazy is that? He says some of them are driving big guzzling cars, too!

Nothing suprises me about people, money, gas or food anymore and all I can say is be careful out there in your day to day lives folks, 'cause it ain't going to get no better the way it's going now.

CFF, I can't believe the local auditor's office let's them get away with that. I'm surprised it's legal. Guess that's why all diesel must be pre-paid ... although, you'd think they'd have mentioned something to you ...

I was really surprised too!
First thing I did when I got in the truck was get out my trusty $5.99 Texas Instruments truck calculator and check their math.
I told them I wasn't fond of there method but it didn't phase the lady at the store any at all. CFF, I can't believe the local auditor's office let's them get away with that. I'm surprised it's legal. Guess that's why all diesel must be pre-paid ... although, you'd think they'd have mentioned something to you ...

All the pumps are pre-pay here now. Especially with snowmobile season starting. If the clerk knows you, they will turn them on.

Round here there are only and handful that are not prepay, and then there are even less that accepts checks...
