Just curious to know if anyone has grown various large podded peas and can provide reviews and comparisons between them.
The ones i know about: Carouby de Maussane Bijou Mammoth Melting Sugar Oregon Sugar Pod
If anyone knows of any others or has grown any of these alone or side by side, let me know. I'm curious to know which one is the biggest, which the tastiest, which one is the most robust, which one is more productive, etc..
To my knowledge i have never grown any of the large podded varieties, and this year i am growing carouby de maussane and bijou. I'm curious to know about Oregon Sugar Pod and Mammoth melting sugar. I was hesitant to plant Oregon Sugar Pod because i wasn't sure if it would do well in my climate. Joseph, you seem to have experience trying to grow seeds from Oregon, have you ever tried this variety of pea before?

I've tried Yakumo - a bit of a favourite, for me, a bit nicer than Mammoth Melting. Swiss giant was a bit grassy and not very sweet.
At the moment I'm growing Roi de Carouby, Swiss Giant, Yakumo, Mammoth Melting and a few snaps in a comparison trial, so will let you know in 6 weeks or so. T

Bijou are good in saoury dishes, but I find them a bit tasteless. What I'd really like would be an equivalent which tasted as sweet as Kent Blue.
