I took a small spill at work Friday and twisted my ankle, I actually heard it pop before I fell off the machine I was working on. To say it made me angry that I had hurt myself would be a major understatement.
It was about twice its normal size when I got to work Saturday morning. I scheduled a 150 ton crane earlier in the week for a Saturday morning special project so work was unavoidable. I fell twice Saturday while hobbling around trying to get my job done so I was blistering angry after I tore up my left knee and the palm of my right hand the second time I hit the ground.
After the crane packed up and left for the day and the workers had gone I closed up the office and headed up to the roof to kill the lights we had used early that morning. We have a man lift that takes me 130' to the roof and then a ladder for the final 20' It took what seemed like forever to climb the last 20' foot to the top of the complex to kill the temporary lighting but what a beautiful sight from the top. We're surrounded by miles of farm land. I sat down on the roof and watched the sun set toward the west over the fields before I started back down to the truck, everything in the world around me seemed so peaceful.
Even with its bumps and bruises life is good!

And you know that book I've been reading to better myself? Well it says (Negative) Pain translates to (Positive) Signal... Wouldn't a Checkered Flag be an easier way to signal?? Slow down!!

Man, watch out there CFF, it's not long off until planting time!
You definetly got to watch out for those weomen and their rolling pins, skillets, and potatos.........yes, I said potatoes....
I once saw a domestic fight in a trailer park end with a woman chasing a man out of a trailer (the man was wearing nothing but the womans panties) throwing potatoes at the man! He sped out of the driveway but not before she broke the back window of the SUV with a potato!
Just a story I thought I'd share to brighten your day! Hope your ankle gets feeling better friend!

I hope that you're okay, CFF. Remember hot, then cold on the swelling until you can't stand it anymore. Isn't a comfrey poultice also good for that sort of thing?
Alan: I didn't know that people staged panty raids at trailer parks. I thought that was only sorority houses. He's lucky all she had were potatoes (and underwear). What a site that must've been.

CFF I understand not wanting to go to the doc, but sometimes....I friend of ours hurt his ankle at work. Didn't report it, didn't go get x-rays. Hobbled around on his own for MONTHS, until his foot was so big he couldn't get his shoe on. Finally had to do something, then of course Worker's comp said why didn't you report, etc. They did eventually cover his bills, but he can only draw for 2 years, and his foot is so screwed up that multiple surgeries haven't fixed it. Now, his other foot has a bone coming through his skin because of the strain he put on it, and he has to have surgery on it. This guy has been going on three years out of work dealing with this. All because he didn't go to the doc when it happened. Please, if you are still having pain in a week or so, break down and go, OK???
