OK, I admit it publicly, sometimes I go over there just to see what the crazies are up to. It's Alan's fault, I had never heard of the idig forum until this forum. I'm not really a computer type. I would never have heard of Alan if we hadn't happened to go to a local meeting. We live in adjoining counties. Anyway, I was just over there reading on the politics of food thread, and someone called greengrass posted a link today to a forum that I can only assume was this one. You know, about a guy who is a market farmer, breeder, anti-gmo crusader, and now writer for an online newpaper. Sure sounds like Alan to me. The post was edited by Jere due to "adult content on that site and personal attacks by---". It just strikes me as pretty funny that a guy as busy as Jere should be, could have time to hang out and edit posts like that. I don't really have any point here. Just seems kind of silly to me. Like maybe someone is on a massive power trip. Thats all. sorry, I think it was greenseed instead of greengrass over there.

Personally I find Alan's forum and blog informative and refreshing. I've not seen a single instance where he's been anything but helpful or kind. Actually I was invited there after getting extremely frustrated over the politics, garbage, and uneven censorship here. Jere this is your place to do as you wish but perhaps you ought to take a step back and look at how this forum has degraded in terms of content as it related to gardening. Sorry to anyone if I mispelled or used improper grammer at any time in this post.
Have a great day. Sorry to get off topic from the SSE mess.
Above is what I posted there today. I meant every word.

I just went there to see your reply, within 5 minutes he had deleted Alan's name. That is hilarious.

I've gone back and forth for a while about leaving idig and this is kinda the last straw. I just pm'd the last of the people there that I think would like it here. I'm done with Idig.

Oh, and he says 'site has adult content'. Am I missing the 'adult' content here? Is there a porn thread here hidden away somewhere? That guy must be a master of time management. Running a seed company, publishing a mag, running his 'Bakersville Chamber of Commerce', world travel, family man, forum censor and dressing up in those attractive yellow cowboy outfits. How does the wonder boy do it?

No it's the fact that you can say nipple, hell, damn, ect without having Barney Fife ( sp?) up your backside here.
He just edited my post because it said "Alan"

Yeah it was greenseed, not me. Oh well. That seems to be the nature of internet forums. That is one of the reasons I like it here. Even though this is alan's forum, it is here for all of us and he lets us do what we will. Who knows for how long or anything else, but for now this is the perfect place to be.
So jere is dressed as a cowboy in those pictures? I was trying to figure that out.

greengrass,
Because it generates a response. A stupid childlike response.

I like iDig, because of the politicis. It amuses the hell out of me! But I think that it does gets over the top, and then "crazies" start coming out of the woodwork. And everything always ends up being about religion, which drives me nuts. That's why it's nice here, because politics and religion are left out of the mix. And you can say hell and not be censored. As if this is an adult cite!! I wouldn't want my kids reading some of the drivel at iDig, even if they were older and interested. They would form some pretty poor opinions of our friends to the South, and iDig (hopefully) does not represent the majority of Americans. Now someone should go over there, and just post 'Alan, Alan, Alan!' But would that get me banned or just censored?

i just don't get it. if there's a problem, i think a person should be able to post their link with a warning, if need be...but i guess that's not in the rules there, sigh.
thanks for keeping this site so open alan! peace, bunkie.

I read it for the amusement value only. I am sure most of the people there are kind and intelligent folks, but some of them are scarey. You don't have to read many posts to learn who is a racist, or religious fanatic, or who will die a virgin. Funny thing is, I tend to think that people who garden are kind, considerate, compassionate, caring beings. Reading that stuff proves it just ain't so. I hold no hope for the human race. None at all.
