Okay, I'm a big fanatic when it comes to Brugs, but I am pissed at the little blurb at BC, about what they have. They are supposed to be a "different seed company", as in , they research their stuff, right? They know what they are selling? I am hopping up and down on my soap box, and ain't getting off anytime soon. It's things like this that perpetuate the misinformation, and keep it going. ************************* New: I'm getting off the soapbox, and going to stand in the corner now. I need to learn some manners.

Hi Sammy,
Please forgive my ignorance, but I don't know what you are talking about. What is a "Brugs"? I did a search for it there and it came up empty.

Howdy Pugs, "Brugs" is when you feel that warm fuzzy feeling of brotherliness you get while your discussing religion or politics with someone and you offer to give them a hug. As in"Aaaaaaaawe! I'm gonna give a brug!"
At least, that's what it means to me

hey sammy,
what specifically does it say that bothers you? doesn't seem to say much at all, is that it? i thought most brugs aren't propagated by seed anyway..

You read plant catalogs in the bathroom? What kinda plant freak does that? I prefer to read Garden Design and Landscape Architecture, more cerebral.

kctomato check out www.abads.net/ for one good source of info. Plenty of others out there. Yes, they can be propagated by seed, almost 90% turn out plain white, yes, most are hybrid that are sold commercially, and they are propagated by cuttings. I don't want any more, I already have more than I know what to do with, and I do actually know (for the most part) what I am talking about when it comes to brugs, I just wish other people would at least do some research or know what they are talking about when selling seeds/cuttings as they do with other plants. If someone is selling a fantastic new black tomato, here's the pricey seeds, but oh, by the way, you have a one out of ten chance getting a black tomato , most of them turn out plain red, and oh, yeah, good luck, they probably won't grow in your part of the country anyway (if in your country at all), but good luck. I think you should be telling your customers that, at the very least. That is my problem. I had a high respect for BC, and so I question the practice of selling something without the whole story . Sorry if I sound like a snot, but hell, sometimes I am one!

oh, yeah, and I wouldn't waste my money at Logee's, or the other place. There are many good people out there who are more than willing to trade, or even SASE for a nice cutting. There are some good brug growers, and traders, who charge a reasonable amount for a plant that is so easily grown from cuttings.

I like Brugs, but really have nowhere to overwinter one. I especially think they are beautiful in yellow.

I like Brugs, but really have nowhere to overwinter one. I especially think they are beautiful in yellow. Just let it dry down to go dormant. Then put it in the basement watering it only slightly a a few times through the winter. Bring out late spring and start watering it and they come back.
