I have never grow garlic before but my first lot is just starting to have the lower leaves die. The problem is that the cloves have started to sprout, the sprouts are growing up through the stem and coming out the top of the leaves. I pulled one bulb and peeled it back to see what was going on and all the cloves had sprouted.
These few bulbs that I have are important to me so can I just replant the sprouting cloves as they will of course not store now? Will they survive the summer?

Your coming onto your summer. When tops fall over collect them out of field. Rplant after your summer has passed.
Storage garlic should be out of direct sunlight.

No, they already have their scapes starting. It is definately the sprouting cloves. I have pulled and divided them up and replanted the cloves and I didn't take a picture. Maybe the cloves started to sprout early because of our wet winter this year, they were in a swamp for some time and I am surprised they didn't rot. BTW the variety is Monaro Purple if that makes any difference. If it happens again next year I will take a photo.
