Back 20 years ago i knew of an old couple who had lots of old heirloom table grapes which took up all of the back yard and also had two that grew right around the house they used to sell plants of which i bought one of that now grows along my shed wall. In 2011 we had a massive earthquake and the area became one of many suburbs in around Christchurch that have been red zoned/abandoned,houses removed and will end up going back to farmland again or parks,so i went back 6 months ago during winter to see what's left of the grapes and found all but the two on the house were gone so i took 6 cuttings of each and poked them in my garden,i have no idea what they are. So my question is now that these cuttings are showing signs of life when do i transplant, the idea is i'll have one of each and the rest i'll put in pots and give away to friends

Transplant when they next go dormant - winter. Shame about the loss of the other varieties.

Oh ok thanks ray. Shame not only about the grapes that have gone but while i was there getting the cuttings i had a look around other abandoned houses thinking that other neighbours may have grown them, but couldn't see any, because its an old subdivision i did come across lots of other lovely looking fruit trees that are going to get bulldozed out,now thats a shame.
