When I have stem rotten problem with growing oca, I didn't know exact cause and cure. Now my oca is time to harvest and I can guess the problem and some tips. First if have stem rotten problem, cut the rotten stem from the ground and plant another place(if possible cool place). All I planted rotten stem of oca have a oca tubers and same as originally grown one. My guess of stem rotten problem is hot temperature and second is humidity,so if growing hot temperature area, plant shade area. If rotten , cut the stem and plant everywhere and check for next year growing. The photo is first time harvest from rotten stem replant oca. My early harvest some oca is hard to cover from frost. My experience is ----don't hill up soil, just add mulch when the stem lean. Now more replant oca and first time plant oca are still growing. They are all growing more bigger tubers--other photos.
