I'm in the process of veggie seed shopping. I want to find a source for a small headed cabbage that is a relatively good keeper. Any recommendations? I've only found one so far & the packet price is a great deal higher than I expected. I hope that is not the norm. *grumble, grumble*

I too am always on the lookout for small-headed cabbages that keep well. I'm currently trialling Golden Acre and Zora, a Czech cabbage. I grew Caitlin F1 and Primo II last winter but both are too large for me.

I strongly suspect late season grown Early Jersey Wakefield would fit the bill. It has done great here in ALL seasons, I sure did keep for a good while in the fall for me, but it ended up eaten before I could measure its long keeping qualities

Early Jersey Wakefield is a favourite but, like Michel, I end up eating them first, so I have no idea of how well it might or might not keep!

me too, I have grown ejw for over twenty years, and it has been great eating, not so sure about storage, though. it is a good spring-early summer crop here

Damn! It's so irritating when something that's been around so long is so valuable. It's almost enough to make one doubt the value of every new "improvement". That can't help the bottom line of the "improvers".

Red Rock Mammoth is my favourite red. I've never tasted or grown anything better. Keeps well too. To get smaller heads, space closer

And Ottawa knows her cabbage.
Telsing's open Chinese cabbage is naturalizing in one of my fields. Spicey, remind me to send you some.
I myself love the Portuguese Cabbage. Yummy stuff, never gives you the burps or other annoying flatulence.
Right after Christmas, I'm going to start sending out seeds.
