Bought three of these for shade trees and of course to try the leaves, a popular vegetable in China I believe with a flavour somewhat onion-like. I'm hoping the ones I bought have pink new growth as these are apparently the better flavoured toons. I'll post more on this as time goes by.

I look forward to it. i've got five or so that i started from seed spring 2011, none of which has been big enough yet to eat from. it's slow going, partly because i've still got them in pots...

Pink variety Flamingo seems prefered by chinese, from what i've read

Mine didn't have a variety name. Spring is almost here so I'll get to see the new growth at least. I bought them dormant.

It can be coppiced (in fact harvesting is a king of coppicing), so if one day you have a glasshouse, you'll can make a try (moreover it seems that the main propagation system besides seeds is root cutting, this is for you !)
