Well, this was fun. I managed to sit on my hands until the end. There was a lot of silly bidding with prices way over nursery prices. Nonetheless, I did successfully bid on a Turkish Tree Hazel seedling after Ernie Grimo's description sucked me into the bidding wars.
You can bring your own trees, berries, fruit & nut trees for auctioning off. SONG gets 30% and you get 70%. The guy next to me was bidding like a fool on just about everything. He had brought a number of items to the auction but it was only when he said on this last successful bid "That's it for free trees" that I realized that his items paid for what he bought. I'm already drooling thinking about next year. I might have to rent a truck..............

Hey Mike H , did you attend this in 2014 ? It seems no one ships nut trees to BC and we are at the mercy of the few retailers who can get them .

With the amount of damage we had from meadow voles over the winter, we had little that we could take to auction. I'm hoping that we'll have something to offer this coming spring - tayberry, black currant, red currant, grapes - Montreal Blues, Valiant, King of the North, Sorbus domestica, Japanese quince, etc. I know we'll have pawpaw since I had such a high germination rate and have over two dozen seedlings which is far too many for us.

I too have had some very expensive loss to voles, about 50 percent of that which I plant in the pasture. Time to invest in a ratting terrier I think.
