Good luck on the grafts, MikeH; apparently my Service Tree could bear any year, now. Really, I'd be fine if it did. All the sticks are still green and the host has leafed out and is shooting strongly. This is the first sign that a graft might have taken.

Nifty catalog! They have some very interesting varieties! they do. I've not used them yet but plan to this fall all being well. Sorbus-wise I have: S. domestica (service) S. torminalis (wild service) S. devoniensis "Devon Beauty" (devonshire service); and Sorbopyrus X (Bollwyer pear) All very young although the devonshire put some nice fruit out last year on a very small tree. Quite fancy that quince x Pear
