Can feijoa seed be dried out and still germinate? Most juicy fruits can't.

I would be interested, in southern California, and I do share.
I know that the green-skinned, white fleshed variety will fruit in my area and have seen a red fleshed variety in the local hardware store.

I grew two plants from seed extracted from a dried up petrified fruit from the leaf litter under a good producing tree that I had my eye on last year ( I was slack and didn't get around to getting fresh fruit to try). From memory the fruit was a couple of months old.. So they will remain viable to some extent. My guess is it wouldn't be a problem with healthy seed well processed and sent in a timely fashion.

Yep, feijoa seed is fine as long as it is labelled with common and botanical name and clean. Message me if there is anything you want in return - seeds or money

I once saw a purple variety being offered on Ebay but have terrible luck with stuff sent from overseas. Unless I'm dealing with some kind of professor, it will either come as dry as vermiculite or well past rotten.

There is also apparently a row with more-gray, downy leaves, a few houses up the street from me. The flowers look very much like feijoa to me.

If they are sent to the US , I would love to get some to try . Is zone 8 in British Columbias south coast sufficient if started under poly until they are young trees ready to take out of pots ? I am not a plant breeder though, just a backyard busy body but I have a US mailing address if they are distributed there.

Ive just this morning gathered enough different variates to send off to degzing who can then on send some to who ever wants it. What would be the coldest ever temp you get there synergy?i'm on the very extreme of winter cold for them and even then i lost all my bought cutting grown ones last winter to a -14Cdeg frost but then all my seed grown Feijoa's were fine,so thats why i'm growing truck loads and selecting the best.
