I have: Unidentified muscadine seedlings Black Caucasus wine grape seedling Small Concord plants Red Flame rootlings Thompson seedless airlayers Wild grape vine (self-infertile female?) Looking at small, bronze grapes at abandoned propety
Last year, I was given some unidentified, muscadine or scuppernong seeds, and they have finally started to germinate, over the past few weeks. I will be interested in collecting more seeds and cuttings, from different varieties as the season progresses. I share plant material as available, and will always budget for shipping, when asked.
Successful attemps at propagation: Cuttings -- using thicker vines with bark. They are green on the inside, only. I fill a tree pot, 2/3 to the top with dirt. I make a big pile of the nodes, and cover it the rest of the way with dirt. This is put at the edge of a shady spot for partial sun, and within eyeshot of a hose, so I remember to water it, constantly.
Seeds -- They are probably most successful when vernalized, but remain viable for over a year.
Air layers -- Especially when in the shade.
Ground layers -- still in progress.
