Yes, and they are real strong. Doesn't make a big bulb, more like a bunching onion.

Thanks Martin. Good to know they don't make a big bulb. I've been waiting for ages for them to bulb up. I guess they've just about all the bulbing they're likely to do!

You may see ½" maximum or almost none if crowded. And it doesn't take long for them to be crowded as they'll drop a lot of seeds. Supposedly that's the onion which Chicago is named for and those that I have came from there. They make a nice little border plant as they don't get too high and are even attractive when just the flower stalk is left.

I've never eaten the bulbs, just the flowers in salads.

Yeah they clump too fast to ever create bulbs worth processing. Greens, especially, sautéed, are awesome!

I've been collecting the seed to take with me when I move but quite a bit has dropped so I guess there'll be a solid patch of them come spring. Thanks for pointing out the edible greens. I'll try them out.
