In my little pea trial area I have a mystery pea growing. What I planted was "Golden Sweet", the yellow snow pea, that I was given from ottawagardener. But what has come up is a white flowered, fasciated snow pea. When I checked in with ottawagardener, she also has discovered that her "Golden Sweet" is this mystery pea. I think this mystery pea is quite interesting, but I'd like to know more about it's history etc. I know Alan Kapuler has worked with peas a great deal, does this look like any of his?

Wow, that's a lot of flowers. If they all set, it will be a heavy cropper. I grew a snow pea several years ago that looked very similar, it set pods in pairs... I'll try to look it up in my records.

Whatever it is, I'd be very interested in seeds, if you have any spare. I'm trying to find as many of these umbellate peas as I can.

I planted all the seed I had, but I'll send you some when and if I can save the seed. Can you PM your address? I'm not so certain it is a snow pea, possibly a shelling pea? The pods with large peas in them are quite sweet and tasty but very fibrous. I had tried a very small pea before.

Whatever it turns out to be, it would be very welcome!

It looks rather like Mummy White, but there are probably other similar looking varieties out there.

P.S. I will also have a seed supply if anyone would like a few. Some of mine resemble pinwheels coming out the top.

I love Crown type peas and your're mystery one is a beauty. What were the seeds like?
