Hello and very nice to meet you friends. I would like to start by introducing myself, my name is Lane Johnson and I am an avid plant enthusiast despite being only 21 years old I have tremoundous goals I have set to achieve. I haven't really considered growing anything for sustinence besides watermelon and I have a keen interest in learning about many other plants for personal collection, as well as getting deeper into working with genetics that haven't been thrown around, thus I am enlist myself with a dubious yet pleasurable task of sourcing and breeding fine genetic material(maybe?). I would like to know more about the inter-relationship of a pollination of that if done by a mono X dio .I would prefer to take the diocious quality and to lock it down. dominance? I would also like to know if the plants would be infertile.
if this is at all possible?
thank you in advance trying to learn as much as I can without going to hort school -Lane

Hi William,
I cant comment about Rubus directly, but in roses the Dioicous character is dominant and as related species I'd expect the same from Rubus.
I'm planing a cross myself between Monoecious X Diocious Rubus myself this season. I want to try for a dwarf blackberry hybrid, using the European Dewberry (Rubus caesius) as the dwarf parent. I'm hoping for some dwarf Monoicous plants in the F2. Assuming I can get as far as the F2.
What are you looking to achieve with your project?
