For those of you curious about my Red Rock Mammoth x San Michel cross. I took cuttings of the f1s and rooted them inside as an insurance policy against winterkill. Though I was vernalizing them with the intension of replanting outside, they only had a couple days of cool before it got too cold so they were back inside. They flowered anyhow INSIDE. I suspect that either fall temps had already done the vernalizing or some other mechanism was at play. Anyhow, I had a tray full of flowering cabbages and nary a bee in sight. I started to cross pollinate and now I have nicely swelling pods with f2s inside!

I saw your fb posts about it. What are you going to select for in the F2 population?

Ottawa, today I was transplanting your Mammoth Michele Cross. EVERY seed germinated. I had 100% germ with your seed. Which annoyed Leo to no end as I had put 2 seeds to a cell in the flat.
Oh he hates that! Good job woman.

In the f2s, I'm looking for maintenance of the green intervein, red vein characteristic, vigour and winter hardiness and possibly resistance to heat rot.
